'Naira Abuse': EFCC Releases E-Money After Interrogation

Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, was released on Tuesday night following hours of interrogation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged naira abuse and currency defacement. The businessman and socialite was arrested on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos and transported to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. His arrest was linked to allegations of spraying US dollars at public events—an act that contravenes the Foreign Exchange Act. Shortly after his release, E-Money posted a video on Instagram showing himself in a lavish setting, with a caption that read: “No tension, everywhere good. I see all your love and support. The inability of Yewa/Awori region to produce governor of Ogun State since creation of the state in 1976 has been described as unjust, inequitable and gross political injustice. Popular Socialite, Aisha Achimugu, Begins Hunger Strike In EFCC Custody

Flamboyant socialite and Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Felak Concept Group, Aisha Achimugu has declared a hunger strike while in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following her arrest early Tuesday morning. According to a statement released in Abuja by her legal counsel, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chikaosolu Ojukwu, Achimugu was taken into custody around 5 a.m. at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after arriving from London. The EFCC had declared Achimugu wanted in March 2025 on allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. Her legal team stated that she returned voluntarily to honour an invitation from the commission and had informed the Federal High Court in Abuja of her intention to report to the EFCC on Tuesday, in compliance with a court order issued the previous day by Justice I.E. Adeola Gives Scholarships, Bursaries To 3,881 Ogun Indigent Students

The lawmaker representing Ogun West, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, has given scholarships and bursaries to 3,881 students from Ogun State, who are in tertiary institutions across the country. He also distributed laptops to 700 secondary school pupils, who have been trained in the ICT programme he facilitated. Speaking during presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government, at the weekend, the Senator, popularly called ‘Yayi’, said each of the beneficiaries in the scholarship category would receive N200,000, while N100,000 would be disbursed to each beneficiary in the bursary category. Supreme Court Sets Aside N22trn Judgement Against Union Bank

The Supreme Court has set aside a Federal High Court judgement in which over N22 trillion was awarded against Union Bank and other parties since 2014.  The judgement arose from a suit instituted by a company known as Visana Nigeria Limited which claimed that Union Bank was indebted to it in the sum of approximately $8 million at an interest rate of 2.5 per cent per month compounded from January 2000 until judgement and thereafter at 10 per cent per annum from the date of judgement until the sum was fully paid.  Delivering the lead judgement of the Supreme Court, with which four other Justices agreed, Justice Stephen Jonah Adah regretted how non-adherence to a settled judicial precedent by the two lower courts had caused a simple matter to be in court for over 25 years.  The final determination of the case is expected to lay to rest the discomfort of the CBN and other regulators of Union Bank, its auditors and rating agencies on the possible impact of the judgement on the ...
