Ohanaeze Progressive Council Disowns Statement Against Former Governors’ Endorsement of President Tinubu for Second Term ***Says South-East Leaders Acted in Igbo Interest

Image
The Ohanaeze Progressive Council (OPC) has vehemently disowned and condemned the reckless, ill-advised, and deeply disrespectful statement issued by the so-called Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) declaring the South-East Forum of Former Governors as “persona non grata” in Igboland. In a press statement, the National President of the Ohanaeze Progressive Council, Comrade Ugo Benjamin, described the OYC’s action as “an act of shameless youthful arrogance and cultural sacrilege that has no place in the dignified traditions of Ndigbo.” “This is not how Igbo people behave,” Comrade Benjamin said. “In Igboland, respect for elders, leaders, and statesmen is not optional—it is sacred. "These elders are accomplished sons of the soil who have served our people with distinction. "For a fringe group of loud-mouthed youths to wake up and declare them outcasts is not only laughable but a disgusting display of disrespect that spits on the very face of Igbo culture and tradition.” Comrade Benjam...

How Junaidu Is Charting The Renewed Hope At IST

Image
By Sam Osagie The necessity for national reconstruction within Nigeria’s economic governance has brought the emergence of a distinguished figure in person of Barrister Aminu Junaidu, who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Investment and Securities Tribunal. This is a man who do not merely occupy office; but redefine it. He is a personality who do not merely inherit system; but refine it. In his tenure of just less than 6 months, his leadership has transcended from routine administration to the noble realm of institutional renaissance. Since assuming office on the 26th of October, 2025, for a five-year tenure under the appointment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Barrister Junaidu has demonstrated that visionary leadership remains the indispensable catalyst of institutional excellence. His emergence at the helm of the Tribunal is now seen as the commencement of a reformist era; an era structured by diligence, inclusiveness, judicial dispatch, and international relevance. From the v...

Ending The Era of Political Warfare: Consensus And The Future of Ogun Succession Politics

Image
By Timothy Odedina The endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections by Governor Dapo Abiodun marks more than a routine political milestone; it signals a quiet but consequential shift in the grammar of succession politics in Ogun State. In a political landscape where transitions have too often been defined by friction, this moment suggests the possibility of order—deliberate, structured, and purposefully achieved. For decades, succession in Ogun State has carried the weight of contestation, frequently unfolding as a zero-sum struggle among entrenched interests. The resulting tensions have, at various points, strained party cohesion and cast long shadows over governance. It is against this history that the present development must be understood—not as an isolated endorsement, but as a conscious departure from a pattern that has proven both costly and unsustainable. Governor Abiodun’s...

Defectors and Political Wreckers: The Atiku, Obi, Aregbesola, and Kwankwaso Phenomenon

Image
By Britus Joseph  There is a breed of politics that does not construct — it storms in, strips bare, and leaves ruin in its wake. It arrives cloaked in promises but departs leaving fractured structures and exhausted platforms. In Nigeria’s political theatre, few names epitomize this destructive cycle more than Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rauf Aregbesola, and Rabiu Kwankwaso. Their political paths are not arcs of progress — they are trails of disruption, chaos left behind every time ambition supersedes loyalty. Atiku Abubakar moves like a relentless political whirlwind, never rooted, always circling the next platform ripe for conquest. From the People’s Democratic Party to the Action Congress and into the All Progressives Congress, his career is a repeating loop of entry, contest, and exit whenever personal ambition hits a wall. Every departure leaves fissures — party divisions sharpened, structures weakened, and electoral contests dragged into prolonged courtroom battles. In Atiku’s ...

The Gateway Visit That Lifted The President’s Spirits

Image
By Kayode Akinmade  President Bola Tinubu's visit to Ogun State last weekend could not have come at a better time. It showed the phenomenal things going on in the state. The atmosphere within and outside Abeokuta, the state capital, was electric. The president rode around the state commissioning landmark projects, and his excitement and relief were palpable. The president had just visited Jos, Plateau State, where he had confronted gory images of terror and the agony of victims.  The President knew the pain of parents in such circumstances. He was visibly shaken, and promised to do everything humanly possible to rewrite the security narrative. And then came the rescheduled Ogun visit that lifted his spirits and showed the possibilities of visionary leadership... The mood before the President's visit was ecstatic. Across the state, billboards announced the visit, but much more so did a populace grateful to have a government working according to their dictates, opening up the st...
