Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has strongly condemned the gunmen attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, and called for decisive action from all stakeholders to end what he termed a guerrilla war. The attacks, which occurred on Saturday, involved gunmen carrying out coordinated assaults on schools in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The gunmen abducted students and staff from the schools, and killled a school teacher, Mr Michael Opadokun. The Ogun State Government has dismissed allegations by Gbenga Daniel over perceived or planned violence ahead of the Ogun East senatorial primaries, describing the claims as hypocritical, baseless and a desperate attempt to create unnecessary tension within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has announced that its senatorial primaries will commence at 9:00 a.m. on Monday across the designated collation and voting centres in all the 236 wards spread across the three senatorial districts of the state. According to the party, eligible members are expected to be present at their respective voting centres to participate in the exercise and peacefully exercise their franchise. Members are also advised to come along with their party membership slips, as this will be required for participation in the primaries. The party further urged members and stakeholders to conduct themselves in an orderly, peaceful, and responsible manner throughout the process, in the interest of party unity and democratic values. The Ogun State Government has disclosed that all persons admitted at the State Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, following the recent chemical inhalation incident in some schools within the town, have been discharged after receiving medical attention and being certified fit by health personnel. The Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, made this known during an engagement with parents, guardians and residents at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School on Saturday. She stated that the state government would deploy ambulance crews to all wards in Ijebu-Ode to ensure prompt emergency response. According to her, each ambulance would be staffed with a driver and a paramedic to respond swiftly to incidents in the area.
