Larrybash Emerges APC Reps Candidate In Ado-Odo/Ota as Party Members Embrace New Direction

The political atmosphere across Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency became clearer on Saturday as High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun, popularly known as “Larrybash,” emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives following the party’s primary election conducted across the 16 wards of the constituency.

The exercise, which many political observers initially expected to end in affirmation of an endorsed candidate, eventually transformed into a ward-based democratic process that witnessed massive participation of party members across the federal constituency.

From reports gathered across several wards, party members openly affirmed their support for Larrybash, with the exercise recording peaceful turnout and coordinated voting procedures under the supervision of party officials and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representatives.

At Ota Wards 1, 2 and 3, there was reportedly no visible opposition against Larrybash as party members openly queued and affirmed support for his candidacy in what supporters described as a loud and overwhelming victory.

Similar developments were reported in Atan, Iju and Ilogbo wards, where party faithful were said to have endorsed Larrybash in large numbers amid chants and solidarity from supporters who described his emergence as “the beginning of a new political direction” for the constituency.

In Ota, prominent APC leaders including Hon. Jide Ojuko, Senator Akin Odunsi and Hon. Aiyedogbon addressed party members during the exercise, assuring stakeholders of a transparent and peaceful process while encouraging unity within the party.

INEC representatives were also present to monitor and document the voting process and vote counts across the wards before the final collation at the APC Local Government Secretariat.

At the end of the collation exercise, the INEC representative officially declared High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun Larrybash winner of the APC House of Representatives primary election, announcing that he secured victory across all 16 wards of Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency.

The outcome of the primary has since generated widespread reactions within the constituency, especially among youths and grassroots mobilisers who have continued to describe Larrybash as a widely accepted figure with growing political influence across communities in Ado-Odo/Ota.

Many supporters believe his emergence reflects the desire for political renewal, broader participation and a new style of representation capable of reconnecting the people with grassroots governance and inclusive development.

Political stakeholders who spoke after the exercise noted that Larrybash’s growing popularity before the primary was largely driven by his relationship with community leaders, youth groups, market associations and party mobilisers across the constituency.

They also pointed to his humanitarian outreach, grassroots consultations and accessibility as factors that strengthened his acceptance among party faithful ahead of the primary election.

Observers further argued that the outcome of the exercise justified earlier indications that no officially recognised consensus candidate existed before the primary, despite rumours and speculations that circulated within political circles in recent days.

According to party members, the conduct of the ward-based primary eventually gave delegates and party faithful the opportunity to openly express their preference through a democratic process rather than through imposed arrangements.

Supporters of Larrybash have therefore described the result as “the people’s mandate,” insisting that the peaceful conduct of the exercise demonstrated the maturity of APC members within the constituency.

Meanwhile, efforts made to obtain reactions from the incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Tunji Akinosi, regarding the outcome of the primary election were unsuccessful as of the time this report was filed.

Calls and messages sent to the lawmaker had not received any official response at the point of publishing this report.

However, this platform remains open to his reaction, and the story will be updated once Hon. Tunji Akinosi responds or makes his position known concerning the outcome of the APC primary election in Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency.
