“We should all embrace proper record keeping in Nigeria. As an association, the Society of Nigerian Archivists has continued to champion the importance of employing archivists in both government and private organisations. Record keeping is essential for national development and institutional memory.

“Guests are expected to arrive on Sunday, May 17, and they will be entertained with a welcome party.

"The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, will also participate in the programme, and we shall pay him a courtesy visit in his office,” she said.

According to her, the conference will officially commence on Monday, May 18, with the registration of participants before its formal opening by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin.

She added that the event is being organised in collaboration with the university, particularly the Departments of Library and Information Science, as well as International and Historical Studies.

“We are expecting several participants from across the country. This conference is also designed to inspire younger generations and showcase the enormous opportunities available in archives and records management.

“It will mark a turning point in the history of the Society of Nigerian Archivists. Both registered and unregistered members are expected to attend, and the programme will also be streamed live,” Oyebo added.

The SNA President further urged archivists across the country to identify with the association, while encouraging Nigerians to embrace proper record keeping at all levels of society.
