I Have Enough Experience to Lead Nigeria as President — APC Aspirant, Stanley Osifo

A presidential aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Stanley Osifo, has said that he possesses the experience and capacity required to lead Nigeria as president.

Osifo made the statement while speaking as a guest on ARISE News on Saturday night, stressing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be seen as the only person qualified to contest for the nation’s highest office.

“President Bola Tinubu is a human being like every one of us. I do not think any of us is specially made. I am experienced enough to handle the office. You may not know the positions I currently hold or the things I have done in the past.

“I have interacted with many people and I have been involved in politics for about 30 years. So, I have the experience needed to lead Nigeria,” he said.

Osifo explained that this was not his first attempt at contesting for the presidency, recalling that he had previously aspired to the office under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018 before joining the APC in 2019.

“This is not my first time aspiring to become President of Nigeria. I contested under the PDP in 2018 before joining the APC in 2019.

“I have passion for Nigeria and I have always wanted to participate actively in political activities. I condemned the arrest of the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election because of my passion for the country.

“I want a Nigeria that works and can compete favourably with other nations,” he said.

The APC aspirant also dismissed speculations that he was being sponsored by President Tinubu or any influential political figure.

According to him, there was no basis for such claims, adding that people could just as easily speculate that he was being backed by prominent businessmen such as Aliko Dangote or Femi Otedola.

Speaking on his chances at the APC presidential primary, Osifo said incumbency should not automatically determine the outcome of the contest.

He maintained that the APC remained one united family and insisted that the presidential race should not be viewed as a personal battle.

“If it comes down to consensus, I would also ask the President to step down for me so that I can emerge as the consensus candidate

“We have people who have never held political office but are performing better than those who have been in government for years.

“The fact that I have not held elective political office before does not mean I cannot perform effectively,” he said.

Osifo also commended the APC leadership for the conduct of the party’s ongoing primary elections, which began on Saturday with the House of Representatives primaries across the country.
