The Ogun State Government on Thursday recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, with the successful rescue of the seven students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, in Remo North Local Government Area, who were abducted by suspected kidnappers earlier this week. Governor Dapo Abiodun, while addressing journalists at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in the company of security chiefs and some of the rescued students, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that kidnappers and other criminal elements have no hiding place anywhere in Ogun State. The Centre for Citizens Right Protection (CCRP) has defended its calls for an independent review of the investigation into the Ajiran murder case, insisting that demands for transparency and accountability should not be misconstrued as an attempt to interfere with judicial proceedings. The group was reacting to a statement by the Coalition of Civil Rights Organisations for Good Governance, which backed the Nigeria Police Force's handling of the case and cautioned against what it described as media interference. Muyideen, citing concerns over the conduct of the proceedings and the need to preserve public confidence in the administration of justice. The Ogun State Executive Council has approved a fresh set of strategic infrastructure projects, including the construction of new legislative quarters, housing schemes, the reconstruction of the Ogun State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, the rehabilitation of major roads across the state, and the upgrading and recognition of traditional stools as part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to sustainable development, urban regeneration and the preservation of the state’s cultural heritage.
