2027: PRA Backs Tinubu Re-Election, Asks G-100 Opposition To Drop Ambition ...Agrees With Donald Duke's Description Of Tinubu As 'A Lion With Horns'

The Progressive Redemption Alliance (PRA) has urged opposition coalitions, including the G-100 group, to abandon their 2027 presidential ambitions and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a consensus candidate to consolidate ongoing economic reforms.

Reaction followed recent public remarks by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Donald Duke, who described President Tinubu as a “formidable politician” and a “lion with horns” whom a fragmented opposition cannot defeat.

In an official press statement released in Abuja on Saturday, September 5, 2026, signed by the Convener of the PRA, Comrade Olajide Wolimoh, the group agreed with Duke's realistic assessment of Tinubu's political depth and national reach.

While validating Duke's appraisal of the political landscape, the PRA noted that the logical conclusion should be national alignment behind the incumbent rather than endless opposition experiments.

"In describing President Tinubu as a 'formidable politician' and a 'lion who also has horns,' Donald Duke has spoken a truth that many in the opposition prefer to avoid,"* Wolimoh stated.

"He correctly observed that a fragmented opposition, driven by personal ambition rather than coherent strategy, stands little chance against a well-structured incumbent with national reach, institutional experience, and political depth."

The alliance emphasized that political noise, social media outrage, and the recycling of individual political ambitions cannot substitute for structure, grassroots organization, and a clear national development trajectory.

The PRA insisted that the economic reforms and fiscal policy resets being implemented under the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda are beginning to yield measurable results that require consolidation.

"In the face of this reality, even a G-1000—let alone a G-100—will go nowhere if it refuses to recognise the political and developmental logic of supporting the continuity of the current administration," the statement read.

"The most responsible and progressive course at this moment is to do the needful: recognise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the consensus candidate who currently holds both the political capacity and the policy framework to stabilise and advance Nigeria."

The group reiterated its firm commitment to mobilizing grassroots structures across the country to secure President Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

Wolimoh noted: "The division has never defeated structure and incumbency. Donald Duke has himself acknowledged this truth. The intelligent response is not to continue testing a divided opposition against a formidable incumbent, but to align with the path that offers continuity, experience, and the consolidation of ongoing reforms."
