Court Adjourns Proceedings In Ajiran Alleged Murder Case As Prime Suspect Reportedly Hospitalised

Proceedings in the case involving the principal suspect in the alleged murder of two prominent sons of the Ajiran community in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State were adjourned on Tuesday after the defendant, Hammed Tajudeen, failed to appear before the court.

The matter came up before Justice Owolabi Ilori at the Lagos High Court.

Counsel to the defendant informed the court that Tajudeen was unable to attend the hearing because he was receiving medical treatment in a hospital.

During the proceedings, the prosecution counsel urged the court to ensure that every necessary step was taken to bring the defendant before the court.

Speaking with journalists after the hearing, defence counsel, Barrister Adedotun Ajulo, explained that at the previous sitting, the case had been adjourned for legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

According to Ajulo, the DPP's advice is now ready, but said that his client remains ill and could not attend court.

"They were considering arranging an ambulance to bring him to court, but it was later confirmed that he is on a hospital bed receiving treatment," Ajulo said.

He added that his client was being treated at the Police Hospital and had been attended to by police doctors.

"We have a medical report issued by the Police Hospital confirming his condition," the lawyer stated.

Ajulo further maintained that the defendant would remain alive to face trial.

Efforts to obtain comments from the prosecution counsel after the proceedings were unsuccessful.

Following submissions from both the prosecution and defence teams, Justice Ilori adjourned the matter to June 30, 2026, for further hearing.
