Hon. Idowu Daramola Pledges People-Oriented Representation, Accountability In Federal House of Representatives For Mushin Constituency 01

House of Representatives candidate of the Accord Party in Lagos State, Hon. Idowu Daramola, has pledged to pursue people-oriented policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents and accelerating development across his constituency if elected in the 2027 general election.

Daramola, who recently emerged as the party's candidate through a consensus arrangement during the Accord Party's candidate selection exercise, said effective representation must go beyond legislative activities to include transparency, accountability and sustained engagement with constituents.

The candidate said lawmakers owe the electorate regular reports on their stewardship, stressing that citizens deserve to know how public resources are being utilised and the impact of government interventions on their lives.

According to him, one of the ways to strengthen accountability is through the publication of periodic legislative performance reports detailing bills sponsored and co-sponsored, motions moved on the floor of the House, committee assignments and achievements, oversight activities, as well as challenges encountered in the discharge of legislative duties.

Daramola also advocated the publication of constituency impact reports highlighting community projects facilitated, scholarships awarded, youth and women empowerment initiatives, healthcare outreach programmes, employment opportunities and infrastructure interventions attracted to the constituency.

He said such reports would enable constituents to assess the performance of their representatives and foster stronger trust between elected officials and the people.

The Accord Party candidate further recommended an annual "Accountability and Stewardship Report" to provide details of constituency projects, funds attracted, implementation status of ongoing projects and future development priorities.

According to him, transparency remains a critical ingredient for effective governance and democratic consolidation.

Daramola also underscored the importance of policy briefs and position papers on key national issues, including security, the economy, education, healthcare, constitutional amendments and electoral reforms.

He noted that regular publication of such documents would help constituents understand the policy direction and legislative positions of their representatives.

The politician further proposed periodic constituency newsletters to be distributed through digital platforms, local newspapers and community groups to keep residents informed about legislative activities, upcoming programmes and opportunities available to them.

He also advocated the production of annual achievement magazines showcasing major projects, legislative milestones and testimonials from beneficiaries of constituency interventions.

Daramola expressed appreciation to leaders and members of the Accord Party for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would work tirelessly to justify their trust and contribute to the party's success in the 2027 elections.

He reiterated his commitment to responsive and inclusive representation, saying the welfare of constituents would remain the central focus of his legislative agenda if elected into the National Assembly.
