Ooni Of Ife Celebrates Gbenga Daniel At 70, Hails Him As “Pillar of Leadership And Service”

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has extended royal felicitations to former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished son of Oduduwa and an enduring symbol of visionary leadership.

In a statement issued from the Royal Court of Ife, the revered monarch celebrated Daniel’s life of service, noting that his journey reflects diligence, courage, and purposeful leadership. He commended the former governor’s unwavering commitment to development, capacity building, and the upliftment of humanity.

The Ooni recalled that the House of Oduduwa had long identified Daniel as a “shining star,” which informed his installation as the Fesojaye of Ife in 1992 a recognition that preceded his rise to prominence in Ogun State and national politics.

Highlighting his tenure as governor, the monarch described Daniel’s administration as a defining era marked by progressive policies, infrastructural transformation, and people-oriented initiatives that significantly improved the welfare of citizens.

Beyond politics, the Ooni praised Daniel’s impact as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and mentor, emphasizing his influence on the younger generation and broader society.

“At seventy, he stands as a leader whose wisdom has been refined by experience and whose legacy has been strengthened by years of dedicated public service,” the monarch stated, adding that his contributions have earned him widespread respect across traditional institutions, political circles, and the Nigerian society.

On behalf of the global Oduduwa race, the Ooni offered prayers for continued strength, sound health, and more years of impactful service for the elder statesman.
