Lagos Lawmaker, Bonu Saanu, Sponsors Excursion for Badagry Students To Mark Children's Day ...Says Impactful Living Is Key

Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Badagry Constituency 1, has expressed delight over sponsoring a group of students from his constituency on an educational excursion in celebration of the 2025 Children's Day.

In a personally signed statement made available to the media, the lawmaker described the initiative as a fulfilling experience and a meaningful way to mark the special day dedicated to children.

"This year’s Children’s Day was truly remarkable, we took over 100 students from both public and private schools in Badagry Town on an excursion across key historical and cultural sites in Lagos. It was an experience that created lifelong memories and valuable learning for the children," Hon. Bonu stated.

The excursion, which marks the second edition of the initiative, included visits to the Lagos State House of Assembly chambers, the J. Randle Yoruba Cultural Museum in Onikan, and the CMS Train Station. The students also enjoyed a train ride to Mile 2 Terminal before returning to Badagry by bus.

Hon. Bonu, who chairs the House Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, praised Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing accessible and enriching infrastructure that benefits residents, particularly school children.

"A life of no impact is a life of no value. "This initiative is about creating impact, building knowledge, and inspiring our future leaders. I thank the teachers who accompanied the students and commend the students themselves for their discipline and enthusiasm," he stated.

The lawmaker also acknowledged the support of the Lagos State Government, and extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for their leadership.

As part of the celebration, a thanksgiving service was held at Methodist Church, Ajara, Badagry to commemorate the day and give thanks for its success.

Hon. Bonu reaffirmed his commitment to youth development and educational empowerment, adding, "We will continue to invest in meaningful programmes that shape the lives of our children and prepare them for greatness."
