Olundegun Pledges Quality Representation, Democratic Dividends for Ado-Odo/Ota Constituency

As the 2027 general elections draw nearer, the spotlight is turning toward Hon. Okiki Olundegun, a vibrant and articulate politician from the Ota area of Ogun State, who has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ota State Constituency 1 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A growing number of residents in the constituency have endorsed Olundegun’s candidacy, describing him as a grassroots mobiliser with the capacity to provide effective representation and push for development-oriented policies.

Community members say Olundegun stands out among other aspirants for his clear understanding of local issues, his credibility, and his passionate engagement with the people on matters affecting sectors like education, healthcare, security, agriculture, infrastructure, and poverty alleviation.

Speaking in a recent interview, Olundegun emphasised that his ambition is born not out of self-interest, but from a deep desire to serve and contribute meaningfully to the growth of his constituency.

“Ado-Odo/Ota is not just an ancient city; it is the industrial hub of Ogun State. I was born and raised here. I know the issues firsthand.

“As a young man, I want to channel my energy into service. I’m going into politics because I genuinely want to make a difference and improve the lives of our people," he said.

He added that his political agenda is aligned with the APC’s masses-oriented vision, and that his campaign will soon unveil a comprehensive manifesto addressing key areas such as rural development, education, healthcare, road rehabilitation, agriculture, and youth empowerment.

Olundegun also noted that even without holding public office, he has been reaching out to support his community in various ways, underscoring his commitment to service beyond politics.

“Nigeria needs selfless leaders who are ready to take the bull by the horns. Public service should be about impact, not entitlement,” he said.

He urged Nigerian youths to stay committed to nation-building rather than giving in to hopelessness or seeking opportunities abroad.

“We all must work together if we want to build the Nigeria of our dreams. Crime and migration are not the solutions. Let us fix the system from within,” he added.

Hon. Olundegun praised the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun for executing people-oriented projects across Ogun State and for staying attuned to the yearnings of the citizens.

He also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism that the nation’s current challenges are temporary and surmountable.

“These are passing phases. With unity, vision, and determination, we will overcome and build a stronger Nigeria," he said.

As Olundegun’s campaign gathers momentum, many political observers believe he could be a formidable voice in the Ogun State House of Assembly if given the mandate in 2027.
