Gender-Based Violence Must Be Wiped Out In Our Society -Lagos APC Women Leader, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas

Women Leader of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas has made a case for the eradication of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Lagos State in particular and in Nigeria generally. Speaking on this year's Lagos Gender-Based Violence (GBV) week and the 16 Days of Activism to end violence against women and girls, Okoya-Thomas said that the matter has assumed an alarming rate and that it should be curtailed to prevent further damage to the victims of the violence. The Women Leader, who spoke to journalists on Wednesday, appealed to all stakeholders to rally round the government and other concerned agencies as well as Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) to end domestic violence and sexual harassment against women and girls. #EndSARS Violence: Residents Urge Lagos Assembly To Drive Away Miscreants From Agege, Fagba Railway Lines

Residents of Agege, Fagba and other areas of Lagos West Senatorial District have urged the Lagos State Government to send miscreants away from railway line and other parts of the state to avoid a repeat of the aftermath of the #EndSARS Protests that wrecked havoc in the state and all over the country. Commenting during the 3-day public hearing organised by the Lagos State House of Assembly between Wednesday 18th and Friday 20th November at the assembly premises on Friday, the residents of the senatorial district stated that the violence that led to the loss of lives and properties could have been avoided. Mrs. Bisi Mohammed from Fagba said that her house got burnt in the inferno and that she didn't have anything to show as evidence, which was why she could not present her cases properly in the form provided by the assembly. Lagos Assembly Begins 3-Day Public Hearing On Aftermath Of #EndSARS Violence

Lagos State House of Assembly on Wednesday began the process of bringing succour to the victims of the aftermath of #EndSARS protests across the three senatorial districts in the state through a 3-day public hearing. The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa had on October 26 set up a nine-man Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate the level of destruction of properties and loss of lives with a view to determine compensation for the victims. Going by the procedure of the Committee, residents of Lagos Central Senatorial District were attended to at Wednesday's sitting.  Residents of the the other two Senatorial districts, Lagos East and West are expected to attend the hearing between Thursday and Friday.
