Barely 24 hours after some concerned Nigerians trooped out en mass in the United Kingdom to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption fight, their counterparts in the United States of America have followed suit. These Nigerians, under the auspices of Restore Nigeria Coalition (RNC) were spotted in the streets of Washington, chanting ‘Sai Baba' as they urged the Donald Trump-led government and the United Nations to support President Buhari in flushing out corruption. Lagos Assembly Moves Against Governor Ambode Over 2019 Budget -May Begin Impeachment Process

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has been summoned to appear before the Lagos State House of Assembly within one week over the 2019 budget, which has caused disagreement between the two arms of government. It will be recalled that Governor Ambode had sent the 2019 budget to the House in December against the tradition of laying the budget before the House. The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa told the lawmakers that it was important to give the Governor a fair hearing over the issue involving the Governor and the 2019 Budget. Less than two years ago, 18 months to be precise, the journey to review the 27-year-old law (Act cap N137 LFN 2004), Repeal re-enactment Bill 2017, which established the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) started at a public hearing at the Senate in Abuja. The new bill, which seeks to replace the existing old law, was initiated to reposition the corporation to meet its set objectives and generate revenue that will boost the country’s economy. Today, the bill is before President Muhammadu Buhari for assent. Director General NTDC, Mr. Folorunso Coker, described the new NTDC bill as the needed legal framework upon which to grow the nation’s tourism potentials. The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency (CESJET), has berated the Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for attempting to taint the person and office of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai. Yoruba Youths Apologise To Nigerians Over Obasanjo’s Recent Outbursts, Caution Ex-President

As reactions continue to trail the recent statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the state of the nation, the Council of Progressive Yoruba Youths has apologized to Nigerians. The youth group said the latest missive in circulation entitled “Points For Concern And Action by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo” was off-point and should be discarded in its entirety. Speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday, the National President of the group, Kola Salawu, said Nigerians needed to forgive Obasanjo for the eight years he wasted as a civilian president and for the wrong path he set the nation on. Salawu said the Yoruba race was deeply ashamed that a so called elder from its ethnic stock decided to remain in a muddy gutter by penning such nauseating content.
