CNG Buses: FG Launches Pilot Phase, Presents Converted Buses To State House

The Federal Government on Friday launched a pilot phase of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, announcing waiver of Value Added Tax (VAT) on CNG purchased vehicles. Engineer Micheal Oluwagbemi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Presidential CNG Initiative (P-CNGi) disclosed, in a statement to newsmen, that the initiative on Friday handed over converted buses to State House in Abuja. A House of Representatives caucus has applauded President Bola Tinubu and the Group CEO of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Mele Kyari for reviving the oil and gas sector. The Friends of the Masses, a caucus consisting of over 50 members drawn from across the country, made this known in a joint statement signed by Hon. Seso Ikpagher (Benue, APC) and Hon. Iyawe Esosa (Edo, LP). The Caucus described Kyari as the best thing to happen to Nigeria's oil sector, adding that the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 is one of the numerous reforms birthed by the NNPC GCEO. A resident of Lagos State, Mr Olufemi Omoola Fasheun has cried out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police over an alleged plan by some people to take over his father's property. In a significant development, the Ondo Redemption Front (ORF), a prominent socio-political group in Ondo State, has submitted a formal petition to the Ondo State House of Assembly. The petition calls for the constitution of a medical panel to probe the current state of health of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Recall, that Mr Akeredolu returned to the country, after a long medical vacation overseas, for an undisclosed ailment.  The Ondo Redemption Front, comprised of concerned citizens and political activists, has expressed their reservations regarding the health of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. The group have in the past months, championed the call for the resumption of Mr Akeredolu, whom since the purported return to the country, have failed to resume duty, in the state, or seen performing any public functions.  The ORF have therefore requested a thorough medical evaluation to ascertain the governor's fitness to continue carrying out his duties in office, as the Governor of Ondo State.

In its quest to encourage more Nigerian companies to invest in the country's oil and gas industry and blue economy, and ultimately contribute to the nation's economic growth, the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government has pledged its support towards the revival of the $1 billion Kaztec Engineering Limited’s oil and gas fabrication yard at Snake Island, Ilashe, Lagos State. The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, gave the assurance yesterday in Lagos during his inspection and on-the-spot assessment of the fabrication yard, which has been shut down for the past eight years due to force majeure declared on it by Addax Petroleum, the project's technical partner. The minister's visit to the project site came a day after the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream) led by its Chairman, Senator Eteng Williams, paid similar visit to the location as part of the upper legislative chamber’s commitment to investigating the reasons behind the project’s sh
