Procurement: Lagos Assembly Increases Advance Payment Fee To 40%

The Lagos State House of Assembly has said that 20 per cent advance payment for  public procurement activities is outdated and that this has affected delivery of projects in the state. This was disclosed by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa at the Public Hearing for a Bill for A Law to Amend the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency Law organised by the House on Thursday at Lateef Jakande Hall, Assembly Complex, . The stakeholders meeting was organised by the House Committee on Finance, led by Hon. Yinka Ogundimu representing Agege Constituency II. Obasa stated that the review was aimed at making the law more functional and ensure that people-oriented projects were delivered speedily in good quality. SDGs: Blossom Africa Initiative Tasks Well Meaning Nigerians on Partnership

The Blossom Africa Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has donated free school uniforms to indigent primary school pupils in Lagos State in its  resolve to ensure that the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations takes effect in Nigeria. The group, which took the SDGs campaigns to Agidingbi Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos gave new uniforms to indigent pupils who were wearing torn uniforms. The President of the group, Mr. Tope Musowo, who led the group to the school, said that they felt the need to intervene seeing pupils wearing torn uniforms to schools. According to him, the group decided to provide school uniforms in its bid to contribute toward the realisation of the first SDGs which bothers on waging war against abject poverty ravaging the society. A Lagos lawmaker, Prince Bisi Yusuff on Monday urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts at getting more sophisticated weapons and be ruthless with the insurgents. Invasion of States Houses of Assembly: Lagos Assembly Charges Buhari To Caution Nigerian Police

Worried by the spates of interference by the Nigeria Police in the activities of State Houses of Assembly, the Lagos State House of Assembly has urged the President, Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Inspector of Police, Ibrahim Idris to call his men to order. The House also commended the Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Aondover Ka'kaan for having the courage to give a landmark judgement on the sanctity of the legislative body. The resolution followed a motion moved by the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. 2019: Atiku's Policy Document Half-Truth, Full Of Empty Promises - Group

The New Initiative for Credible Leadership (TICP) has described the policy document of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as half-baked and a package of empty promises. The group said after a careful analysis by its team of policy experts drawn from, it was unanimously agreed that the policy document lacks any meaningful development template for the Nigerian state. The Concerned Christian Forum has urged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to stop ridiculing the Christian faith with its political utterances. Addressing journalists in Abuja, national coordinator of the group, Elder. James Amedu said any attempt to politicize Christendom in the days leading to the 2019 election should be resisted.  Amedu accused the CAN of delving into politics and issuing utterances that run contrary to the Christian creed. He said something of the utterance depicts the CAN as working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
