A pharmaceutical distributor may purchase essential products from Kenya. A manufacturer may pay suppliers across several African markets, while a technology company in Lagos may serve customers in Rwanda or Zambia. Across Africa, commercial relationships are expanding and businesses are discovering new suppliers, customers and investment opportunities. The African Continental Free Trade Area is supporting this momentum by creating a framework for deeper economic integration, wider market access and increased trade among African countries. Farmers, traders, cooperatives, commodity aggregators and small businesses are also exploring digital platforms and structured networks that can connect them to regional opportunities. However, finding an opportunity is only part of the journey. Businesses must also be able to pay suppliers, settle ...

Abiodun And The Women's Agenda, Empowering Women, Strengthening Families, Securing Ogun

Image
By Kayode Akinmade A government’s commitment to women is best judged not by the number of empowerment programmes it announces, but by whether it creates lasting pathways for women to earn, lead and shape society. By that measure, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s record in Ogun State presents a clear and deliberate women’s agenda. Under Abiodun, women’s development has moved beyond episodic assistance to become part of the State’s broader economic and social strategy. From productive capital and livelihood support to skills acquisition, financial inclusion, enterprise development and leadership opportunities, the administration has pursued a simple proposition: Ogun’s development cannot be complete when its women are economically constrained or excluded from decision-making. The scale of the intervention reinforces that proposition. Under his leadership, Ogun State, in partnership with the World Bank-supported Nigeria for Women Project, has directly empowered about 100,000 women. Official figure...

This is the reality facing many private school owners in Nigeria as the 2026/2027 academic session begins. Enrolment is increasing, and parents expect better facilities, stronger security, modern technology and improved learni...
