Naira Redesign: Lagos Assembly Commends NASS - Says Nigerians are suffering, economy in danger

The Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has brought mass suffering on the citizens of the country while the economy is in danger, the Lagos State House of Assembly has lamented. The lawmakers further noted that even though the policy was a good one, its timing was wrong as it had further thrown the country into economic chaos which could become difficult to resolve if urgent steps are not taken. The CBN had announced a 10-day extension of the deadline for currency swap at the weekend, but at a sitting presided over by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on Tuesday, the lawmakers urged the CBN to extend the deadline for currency swap as the policy had not helped the country. Dr. Obasa noted that the concern of the lawmakers had to do with the pains, anguish and anger spreading among Nigerians over their inability to access the new currency. The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor has raised an alarm over the constant attacks on his campaign team. Jandor then called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to intervene in the attacks, which he said is being perpetrated by agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Addressing a World Press Conference at Protea Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja on Sunday, the Governorship Candidate said that the whole thing started last year, when those commissioned to produce billboards for his campaign returned his money and his posters were destroyed in strategy areas of the state. Jandor then recalled how he started a campaign tour of the 245 wards in the state on October 19, 2022, revealing that 192 wards have been visited so far, but that his team has suffered several attacks from the agents of the ruling APC

Badagry APC Members Defect To PDP, Declare Support For 'Jandor'

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ward E and Ward D in Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Saturday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State. The group declared support for the  Lagos PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) at his Campaign Office (Liberty House) in Ikeja. Mr.  Wusu Michael, one of the leaders of the decampees and a former APC Ward Vice Chairman in Badagry West LCDA, said that increasing suffering of the masses in the area led the group  out of the APC. Michael, who noted that only few members of the group were present because of a social function, prayed to God to help Adediran to win the governorship election.       The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reacted to what it called the "reign of terror unleashed on innocent and law abiding citizens of the state by the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming elections, Jide Adediran, otherwise known as Jandor."   Spokesman of the party, Hon.   The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the alleged attack on the team of its Governorship Candidate in the state, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor. The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor has condemned the incessant attacks on his campaign train. Jandor stated this during a meeting with Council of Chief Imam in Ketu Central Mosque in Kosofe Local Government area of the state during his campaign tour of the council. The All Progressives Congress, APC has disclosed that Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed was sacked from her position as its campaign Director of Civil Society Organisations as against the claim that she resigned from the position. The party explained that Mohammed was sacked for incompetence and for being a mole in the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC). The APC stressed that Mohammed lied to Nigerians that she resigned her appointment from the campaign team. Lagos Assembly Adopts Recommendations On Proposed Tertiary Hospitals

  Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday adopted recommendations of its Committee on Health Services for the proposed upgrade of some general hospitals to tertiary health institutions. Five general hospitals may benefit from the planned upgrade with the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa, saying secondary health centres like the ones in Badagry and Ikorodu established since the 1950s should benefit. The resolution was made after a deliberation on the report submitted by the Chairman, House Committee on Health Services, Hon. Olusola Sokunle.  In the report, the Chairman said that the committee went on a fact-finding mission to the general hospitals across the state to know the suitable hospitals that could be upgraded to tertiary institutions.
