It said, "This is quite unbecoming of a state as metropolitan as Lagos, where things are expected to be done in conformity with democratic norms. "We found it appalling that hoodlums, many of whom are said to be working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), were behind the violence that was witnessed at several polling units across the state, which disrupted the electoral process. "This is quite surprising as the APC is a signatory to the peace accord that preceded the election.  "One wonders why the APC and its agents resorted to violence despite the claims that they h

OPINION Iyiola Aina: Steve Oliyide And His Error Of Thoughts On Dapo Abiodun

Image
Reading through a jaundiced piece authored by one Steve Oliyide, who claimed to have been a political activist and member of OGD political family, one could seamlessly deduce a rudderless thought lacking in coordination. While the import of his vituperation denotes mentality of a retrogressive ideology in a deceitful regalia of political activism, his line of thought clearly gives him out as a political jobber with character of inordinate entitlement. Since the obvious capacity of his thinking precludes logic and reality, it’s therefore, imperative to educate and whip the element back to line without necessarily joining issues with him. To set the record straight, the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun has been objectively adjudged as the best in the history of the State in terms of inclusive governance and developmental drive, even in the face of inherited mess occasioned by bad leadership of his immediate predecessor. The Governor, over the last three years and some months have pr

March 18 Guber Poll: Why Dapo Abiodun Will Crush Amosun, Ladi Adebutu & Otegbeye!

Image
Since he took over as the Governor of Ogun State in 2019, Prince Dapo Abiodun has proven cynics wrong as he has kept moving from one developmental project to another. Abiodun hit the ground running and touched all the nooks and crannies of the Gateway State with his people-oriented programmes that have since changed the lives of the people. The monumental projects, which are too numerous to mention, cut across road construction, healthcare, education, youth development/empowerment and agriculture. Others include regular payment of salaries of civil servants, including those of teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions as well as gratuities and pensions, sports, rural development, women empowerment and several others. His handling of COVID-19 Pandemic, despite the fact that the index case was reported in the state, is nostalgic and the Governor was able to ensure that the EndSars crisis did not spread to the state. No wonder the discerning minds and majority of the reside

AYCF made the declaration in a statement issued in Lagos by Alhaji Yerima Shettima, its National President, while describing those calling for the resignation of Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, chairman of INEC, as agents of destabilisation. The election produced Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came second and third, respectively. The group hailed INEC for doing its best giving the circumstances under which the election was conducted, but lamented that "there are forces opposed to the commendable effort of INEC and we are aware there is deliberate ploy to distract the electoral umpire." The organisation warned that it was prepared to res
