Lagos Lawmaker Urges Ikorodu Residents To Support Buhari, Sanwoolu In 2019 General Elections

A lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Agunbiade has urged the residents of Ikorodu area of the state to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu as presidential candidate and governorship candidate of Lagos State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 General Elections.
Agunbiade, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the Assembly, stated this on Friday 9th November, 2018 during a Thanksgiving service he organized to appreciate God for his success at the just concluded primary election of the party.
Speaking at the event, which held in his constituency office on Obafemi Awolowo Road, ikorodu, Agunbiade, who is also the Majority Leader of the House, thanked APC members in Ikorodu for their support during the primary and gave glory to God that no life was lost in the elections.
"We are not in the hospital and no life was lost during the primary, which was why we decided to thank God today. We also want to commit the 2019 elections into the hand of God.
"The programme was also organized for us to meet our people; the market men, women, Ibos, Hausas, executive members of the party and seek their support for the forthcoming general elections.
"There were about eight aspirants for the constituency during the primary elections and God chose me as the winner. We will still sit down with others and discuss with them on how to be united for the elections," he said.
Agunbiade told the teeming crowd that President Muhammadu Buhari has done well, saying that he deserved a second term of office.
He said further President Muhammadu Buhari would win the 2019 Presidential election and that the APC would continue to control Lagos State through Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu from 2019.
The Majority Leader emphasized that he was not the wisest or the most brilliant of the aspirants in the constituency for the election, and thanked the residents for given him their support at the primary.
He added that it was important for the people of Ikorodu to be united for the forthcoming general elections, and called on them to troop out en-masse to participate in the 2019 general election, and stressed that they must prove that the area is well populated through the election.
In her comment, the Public Relations Officer of the APC in Ikorodu Local Government, Mrs. Kehinde Okeowo said that they were at the event to celebrate Hon. Agunbiade for his success at the primary election and for not recording any casualty during the exercise.
"We have to come together and work for the party in the coming elections. Hon. Agunbiade has represented us well and for him to be there for three times shows that he has done well.
"He represented all the three local governments well. We want to support him and work for his reelection in 2019," she said.
Also speaking, the Chief Missioner of NASFAT in Surulere area of Ikorodu, who officiated at the ceremony, Imam Folorunsho Faagba said that it was important to thank God at all times.
He stated that If anyone called people like him to join him to thank God, then they had to be there.
"When God blesses you, just give thanks, don't be over excited so that you would not be wounded. We are happy that Hon. Agunbiade knows that he should give thanks to God.
"We are not politicians, but we must advise politicians and talk to them with the word of God. Politicians must fear God and help the masses that are suffering, and remember how they got into office.
"They should know that some people were there before them and they ended their tenures or died.
"Also, they should make education better and make other things work for the people. It is only through the fear of God that they can rule properly," he said.
