Get More Sophisticated Weapons To Fight insurgency, Lagos Lawmaker, Bisi Yusuf Tells Federal Government

A Lagos lawmaker, Prince Bisi Yusuff on Monday urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts at getting more sophisticated weapons and be ruthless with the insurgents.
Yusuff, representing Alimosho Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly made the appeal in an interview with journalists following the recent loss of some soldiers in the fight against insurgency.
The lawmaker, who urged the government never to relent in its efforts to end terrorist attacks, urged all stakeholders to join hands with the government.
``Without bias to my party (APC), the loss of our soldiers is unfortunate; I commiserate with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the President and the family of the victims for the disaster.
``If the President had died when he was fighting for Nigeria, the nation would not have got the value he is adding to the nation now.
``I want to appeal to the Federal Government never to relent  in its efforts to end the killings, we know it was inherited. Government must go back to the drawing board, strategise, look inward into military formation and see where leakages are.
``We should go for more sophisticated weapons and be ruthless with the insurgents. We cannot also rule out sabotage at this political period.
``The Federal Government must tighten up because politics is around, one may not imagine what is still in the pipeline as people are desperate for power, discrediting the ruling party.
``All hands must be on deck to put an end to this insurgence; it is not by criticising alone," Yusuff, the Chairman, House Committee of Public Accounts (Local) said.
He urged politicians never to politicise the killings to ride to powers, saying they could only rule over the living and not the dead, saying it was a national disaster.
The lawmaker, who urged the military to work more on intelligence network, advised the Federal Government to compensate the family of the slain soldiers adequately to suppress the agony.
