Lagos Resident Seeks Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, IG's Intervention Over Invasion Of Property

A resident of Lagos State, Mr Olufemi Omoola Fasheun has cried out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police over an alleged plan by some people to take over his father's property.

Fasheun said during an interview with journalists on Monday that the property, located at number 10 Kudirat Abiola Road, Oregun, Lagos was acquired  by his father, the late Engineer Olawanle Ebenezer Fasheun in 1961 and that they had lived on the property for 60 years.

The distraught America returnee said that his father died in 2004 and that immediately after he died some alleged land grabbers, "Omo Online" started laying claims to the land.

"They brought some fake papers and they went to court in Ajah, not even Ikeja to lay claim that the land belongs to them.

"Their sponsors are some notorious land grabbers in Lagos State, one Tomori Williams and they are waiting to see what happens in another claim by Cardinal James Omolaja Odumbaku aka Baba Eto, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

"in 2021 Odunmbaku brought some police officers from Zone 2 Police Command and they arrested everyone they saw on the premises and locked them up. They brought bulldozers and bulldozed some parts of the building.

"I went to Zone 2 of the Nigerian Police and even the land grabbers office, I couldn't make any headway. I only found out a few months ago that Odunmbaku wrote a petition against me to Zone 2 Police Command that I trespassed on his land, a land that we have occupied for 60 years.

"The Attorney General of Lagos then, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo, issued an arrest warrant against me. So, Tomori and Odumbaku now joined forces with the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde to enter the land and claimed that it belongs to them through the land and building departments.

"I want to appeal to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu that this is not the only land here. I went to Alagbon and I couldn't get through. They are giving Lagos State and Nigeria a bad name. People like us have spent many years in the United States of America, we want to come back home and invest in this country," he said.

Fasheun urged President Bola Tinubu, the new Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun and the Lagos State Governor to help him, adding that nobody could take over this place from him.

He advised that anybody that is going through the same challenge to consult Lawyer For Reform Group and so that they could fight it together.

"We want a society that people would be proud of. Lagos State is the center of excellence and things like this should not be happening there.

"They broke into this place four times last year and anytime they come, they break things and steal our property and we keep buying these things back.

"They stole generators and other items. The last time they came here, they stayed for four days before we were able to chase them out. The President and the Governor to come to our aid. Alagbon and Zone 2 must be cleaned up and those that are doing these things must be brought to book and fired.

"Democracy is about the government of the people. Odunmbaku said that he bought this place in 1994, when my father was still alive, how did he do that. He brought a fake paper that we submitted to the office of the land grabbers.

"We know nothing about it. He is going about saying he owns the land and joined forces with Tomori Williams. I am appealing to the Governor, the President and the new IG to clean up this state and country," he said.

Issues concerning the matter was also contained in a press release signed by the President of Center for Human and Socio-economic Rights, Comrade Alex Omotehinse and the Executive Project Director, Lawyers for Reform Group/Principal Partner, Juryman Associates Chambers, Aare Oladotun Hassan Esq.

The groups said that they are committed to ensuring protection of fundamental and social justice rights, "promoting peace building, and legal  intervention to rescue Mr. Olufemi Fasehun the bonafide owner of the property known as 10, Kudirat Abiola way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos hereinafter referred to as ‘Victim "

"On his behalf, we urgently demand for onward intervention of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu alongside Mr Kayode Egbetokun, the Acting Inspector General of Police  accelerated due diligent investigation and prosecution of anyone found culpable no matter how highly placed at a court of competent jurisdiction accordingly."

They said that before now, "series of  criminal conspiracy led by APC Governor Advisory Council Chieftain, Cardinal James Odumbaku Baba Eto earlier claimed ownership with forged premeditated land title documents and survey plan in connivance with Omonile led by Aare Tomori Williams and others,  wherein the Mr Onigbanjo SAN former Attorney General of Lagos State was used to launch a deadly invasion into the land to demolish and forcefully dispossessed the property,  but for legal intervention and accelerated due diligent investigation,  they retreated and now relaunching another attack through the office of the Chief of Staff to Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde to carry out another deadly covert operation with the use of officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Thugs and police officers decoy to forcefully invade and seize the aforementioned property."

"Precipitating our urgent clarion call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Governor of Lagos State,  Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Acting IGP Kayode Egbetokun to swiftly come to the aid of the victim who are the rightly owners of the aforementioned property with a all valid land title documents attached herewith for your confirmation.

"It is in the light of the recent rampaging evil agendas and criminalities of Land Grabbers in Lagos State, particularly over recent petitions against renowned notorious cases of Saheed Audullahi Mosadoluwa Ibile,  Tunde Ogungno, Hameed Tajudeen, Aare Tomori Williams and others working in connivance with officials of the Lagos State Government particularly Ministry of Lands;
across Lagos State are now the Lording themselves as untouchable to carry out atrocities of land grabbing menace.

"Regrettably, they deceitfully using falsely intended court judgment of
claim of Egunaye’s dated 8th of February, 1952 in suit N0. 31/1952, that was submitted by the Egunaye in prove of ownership of the land, was in respect of a land at Shangisha near Hausa Village, present day Alausa, and not  the land of the victim located at 10, Kudirat Abiola way, Oregun, Lagos State.

"The preliminary survey plan submitted by the Egunaye in the name of one Simbiatu Egunaye, is in respect of land at Eregun village not Shangisa, a clear contradiction to what they have in their court processes with suit N0. 31/1952.

"Thus the vampire marauding land grabbers are now all out to wreck monumental havocs capable of erupting breach of peace and breach of fundamental rights of the affected victims.

"The victim earlier wrote a petition dated the 2nd of May, 2023 to the Assistant inspector General of Police, FCID,  Alagbon,  Lagos against Mr. Tajudeen Egunaye, Ayinde Sanni Egunaye, Mrs. Mudirat Egunaye, Aare Tomori Williams and other unidentified thugs (hereinafter referred to as the accused/ suspected land grabbers) for heinously attacking the premises of the victim with an intention to forcefully invade and sieze the landed property at 10, Kudirat Abiola Way,  Oregun,  Ikeja,  Lagos," they said.

They said that the aforementioned land grabbers/accused persons also did a petition dated the 9th of March, 2023 prior to that of the Victim's petition, where they also made allegedly unfounded accusations against the victim, who is resident in the USA then.

The petition of the accused, they said, was assigned to General Investigation headed by DCP Danko Sheikh upon which the victim's workers were arrested on his land by the team headed by the said officer and they were released on bail on the 28th of April, 2023.

"After the incident of the 28th of April, 2023, the accused still attacked the victim's property and was constrained to lodged his own petition dated the 2nd of May, 2023," they said.

It was added that Mr. Femi Fasehun’s petition was for the police to investigate and prosecute on the allegations of the four attacks by accused, who they said resorted to self-help, malicious vandalization of his property, stealing, threat to his life and that of his workers and purporting to carry out execution of a non-existent court judgment in suit N0. ID/1375/2011 by the accused.

"Documents presented to prove ownership of B Fasehun’s land.Certified True copy of Deed of Conveyance dated the 10th of January, 1961 with registration N0. 6/6/431 registered at Ibadan.

"Survey Plan of the same date as above.Power of Attorney dated the 8th of June, 2003. Certified true copy of the judgment of the High Court of Lagos State dated 10th January, 2019 with suit No. ID/68M/2009, affirming the ownership of Mr. Femi Fasehun as the bonafide owner of the house and land at 10, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos State," they said.

They said further that; "in the light of the aforementioned concerns of the victim, we request  a thorough investigation of DCP Danko and members of his team by the IGP'S  office and Provost Marshal Department, that we seek for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,  Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwolu and Inspector General of Police intervention of assigning a neutral department and highly  professional  investigative  team at the  Force Headquarters in Abuja FCT to take over the investigation and conclude it via prosecution of anyone found culpable accordingly.

"We are very certain we cannot get justice with the present state of things at FCID, Alagbon, Lagos.Should further particulars be required, we shall be available during investigation accordingly.

"We shall appreciate all Nigerians onward accelerated  concerted supports and efforts to stop land grabbing menace in Lagos State under any guise of demolition of innocent Nigerian citizens properties, and need to achieve respite for the victim's property and peaceful habitation of his property respectfully.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere."
