Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called for the establishment of a military Forward Operation Base in the eastern part of the state to help curb criminal activities in that area. Governor Abiodun made the call on Wednesday when he received the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Farooq Mijinyawa, who paid him a courtesy call in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Abiodun noted that the high volume of commercial activities in the eastern part of the state, also comes with criminal activities, hence the need to beef up security in the region. The governor said a military presence is needed in the area to keep at bay criminals who migrate from neighbouring states to Ogun to cause havoc. Ogun government has assured sports enthusiasts of its preparedness to host an exciting and hitch free National Sports Festival come 2005. The Commissioner for Sports Development in the state, Hon. A five million dollar British battery recycling company is to be set up in Ogun State. The British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Mr. Richard Montgomery, disclosed this on Wednesday when he led some officials of the Commission on a courtesy call on the State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Mr. Montgomery said that when operational, it would be the best in Africa. He said: "My brief visit to this state is about the deal put together for recycling, which is moving out of Lagos State and establishing a new plant here for recycling e-waste.
