COVID-19: Lagos Lawmaker, Sylvester Ogunkelu Provides Food Items For Constituents As Palliatives

A Lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe constituency 2, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu has donated more than 5,000 packs containing food items to his constituents as relief packages to cushion the effect of Coronavirus Pandemic.

Ogunkelu distributed the packages through Community Development Associations (CDAs) and traditional rulers in the area in a bid to ameliorate the hardship posed by the ravaging COVID-19 Pandemic.

Speaking to newsmen during the exercise, Ogunkelu stated that the initiative was meant to complement the efforts of the state government.

“The relief packages are meant to alleviate the sufferings of my constituents, while COVID-19 Pandemic lasts.

“We are doing this to complement the efforts of the State Government to help the people to stay at home and be safe from being infected with the virus.

“The number of patients discharged from the isolation centres in the state shows the effectiveness of the government in this area,” Ogunkelu said.

The lawmaker however, advised his constituents to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures put forward by medical experts in order to contain the spread of the deadly disease.

He noted that the consequence of not adhering to the medical instructions might cause the country uncontrollable deaths, praying that this won’t be the portion of the constituents and Nigerians at large.

“I want you to know that I share your pains. You have voted for me and I am obliged to represent you well at the State House of Assembly.

“We should know that one cannot do anything in life without life itself; hence, we must adhere strictly to the directives of medical experts by washing our hands regularly, use face masks and sanitizers.

“Don’t let us join some people in saying that the virus is not real. It is very real. May we not lose any of our loved ones to this deadly disease in Jesus name.

“Let’s all be guided and act in accordance with the directives of health experts since it is their area of expertise.

“I am here to confirm to you that Coronavirus is real and that is why we have various isolation centres in the state," he said, adding that the people should support the government in sending the virus away by all means.
