Lagos Lawmaker, Abiodun Tobun Donates ICT Center, Educational Materials To Epe Residents -Gets Endorsement For Fourth Term



Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly has donated ICT center, modern computers, 50,000 exercise books, bags and other educational items to his constituents, who used the occasion to endorse his fourth term ambition from 2023.

Tobun, Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, said at the event, which held at the premises of Epe Local Government on Wednesday September 29, 2021 said that the future of the youths was important, which was why he decided to support their education development.


The lawmaker said that education is the bedrock of any society, and that for any society to develop, the citizens must be educated. 

"Go to China, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and others, they were able to turn the countries around through education. We need to turn this nation around with information technology. 


















"ICT plays major roles nowadays and we have decided to create a network platform for our children and provide them with necessary facilitiesy to work with and they can go along with e-learning and impact the society. 

"This will enhance their thinking, their performances in the school and in work places and anywhere. Today, if you are not good you are not good, everything is digitalised. IT, information management, data management and other areas play  major role in education development," he said.

Tobun emphasized that there is need to catch them young, which he said was why he started with the primary schools to sharpen the knowledge of the students before they get to secondary schools and then the universities.

On the efforts of the state government on education, he said that the emergence of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of the state has brought much development.

He said that the Governor has been completing ongoing projects and that they are trying to we support him in the area of education. 

"That was why I came to my constituency and gave the students computer, bags, books and other gadgets. 

"I believe that one day, Epe would become the best, the Governor would come from Epe and even the President would come from the area. The youths would still take over the leadership of the state and that of the country very soon. 
It is normal and I feel happy, the result of good work is more work and we will continue to do the best for our people," he said.

Beneficiaries of the gesture were the primary schools in the constituency, while the ICT center is located in Odo Obara High School and some students, who did well in the last Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) were given prices by the lawmaker.

In his speech during the event, the Senatorial Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos West and a member of the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC), Alhaji Akanni Seriki aka Baba Bamu said that Hon. Abiodun Tobun deserved a second term and that the people of Epe were satisfied with his performances over the years.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, who was at the event l, commended the lawmaker for his support, adding that the state government would continue to do it's best for education.

Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, representing from Epe 2 in the State house of Assembly, said that he was encouraged by the gesture of Hon. Abiodun Tobun, and that the way he was giving back to the people of Epe in various was worth emulating. 

"I want to advise the people of Epe  Constituency 1 to cooperate with him and know that if he is given another chance he would perform better," he said.
