Lagos Majority Leader, Agunbiade Tasks Residents of Ikorodu on PVC Collection

The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade aka S.O.B has urged Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to be part of the 2023 general elections.

Agunbiade, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, stated this during the assembly's 8th annual constituency stakeholders meeting, which held simultaneously in all the 40 constituencies of the state on Thursday June 30, 2022.

The lawmaker hosted the meeting at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (formerly called Lagos State Polytechnic).

It was a massive turn out as the seven hundred (700) seater hall was filled with stakeholders from all fields such as market men and women, artisans, royal fathers, businessmen, educationists, security personnel, religious leaders, students etc.

Agunbiade spoke about the imperative of the PVC and enjoined the citizens to get obtain theirs from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He also commended the constituents for their responsiveness to matters affecting the communities.

He however, expressed reservations about the over 20 million PVCs that were yet to be collected across the nation, saying that this will not augur well for the peace and progress of the country.

Also he commend the good work of the past governors of Lagos State starting from Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and to the current Governor, Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu on job creation, employment, empowerment, waste disposal, safety and security, business opportunities and so on.

After the speech, the INEC representative at the event urged the people to speak about the challenges they are facing about PVC collection.

Several complaints were made by the people with some saying that INEC offices were too far from them.

Some people said that they had registered, but that they were not given PVCs, while some said that their areas were too far from the INEC offices, and that they should make provision for offices that would be close to them.

The INEC representative later promised that all the complaints would be adequately addressed.

Hon. SOB Agunbiade then pleaded on behalf of the people that the INEC office should be opened in public places such as in Ikorodu Local Government secretarial, while he promised to get more people to assist them during the registration process, but that these people would have to be paid by INEC.
