We Are Aware of Campaign of Calumny Against Our Candidates-Lagos PDP ...Expresses Determination To Ensure That Democracy Works In Nigeria

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it is aware of a campaign of calumny against its Governorship Candidate and other candidates in the state in the 2023 General Elections.

In view of this, the party urged its numerous supporters that it remains unshaken in its belief that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, adding that "we will not allow some undesirable elements truncate what we all fought for and which we should enjoy together."

These were contained in a statement issued by the party's Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, Hon. Hakeem Amode, dated Monday April 10, 2023 and made available to journalists.

Amode alleged that some of the tales being told about the party's Governorship Candidate in the 2023 elections, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, "about the events leading to the election are nothing but products of the imagination of some of our oppositions and moles within the party."

He then urged the party's numerous supporters to disbelieve the rumour in town that Jandor disregarded the hierarchy of the party in some of his decisions and campaign programmes.

"The peddlers of these tales were quick to add that the party lost the governorship election due to lack of cohesion in the party.

"One wonders how people were quick to reach such conclusions despite the fact that they were aware of some notable flaws in the elections.

"Why we will not assume the role of the judiciary in determining who should be blamed and what ought to be done, we will like to advise stakeholders to restrain from hitting up the polity and allow the whole process to evolve.

"There is no doubt that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and we wish to urge everyone to stay action and be patient enough to watch as the events unfold as we will do our best to protect the nation's democracy as a party," the statement read.
