Lagos PDP Congratulates Chief Dapo Sarumi On His 80th Birthday
The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Chief Oladapo Babatunde Sarumi, a founding member of the party in the state, as he celebrates his 80th birthday on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, dated May 15, 2024, which was made available to the media.
Amode stated that the party is celebrating "a visionary leader and a devoted Nigerian, whose impact has touched numerous lives and significantly contributed to the political and economic progress of our nation."
"Your graceful aging and the opportunity to savour the fruits of your labour bring us immense joy.
"We fondly recall your tireless efforts, alongside others, in laying a solid foundation for our party in Lagos, your home state.
"As you mark this milestone, we pray for continued good health and grace for many more years of fruitful existence," he said.
He recalled that Chief Oladapo Babatunde Sarumi, born on May 16, 1944, received his primary education in Epe and secondary education at Anwar-ud-Deen Secondary School, Agege, both in Lagos State.
"He pursued further studies in the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria to study computer engineering at the University of Lagos.
"He rose to the position of Director at the Computer Control Department of the Nigeria Port Authority before embarking on his political journey, starting with his association with the late Obafemi Awolowo in 1975.
"Among his notable political appointments are Chairman of the Lagos State Printing Corporation, Chairman of the Lagos State Ferry Services, and Board Member of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. He has also served as the Federal Secretary of Communications in 1993, Minister for Information in 1998, and Minister of Integration for West Africa.
"Throughout his career, Chief Sarumi has been an active participant in various political endeavojrs, including gubernatorial primaries, senatorial contests, and leadership positions within political parties.
"His contributions extend beyond politics, with significant roles in the business sector, including as President of Wang Computers in Africa, Chairman of Datamatics Nig Ltd, and consultant to Rank Xerox and CBC.
"In addition to his political and business engagements, Chief Sarumi holds esteemed titles such as Seriki Nyaki of Katsina State and Jagunmolu of Epe, Lagos State, among others," he said.
