LASEPA, eTranzact Champion ESG Awareness, Financial Inclusion In Lagos Schools

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, eTranzact International, Niyi Toluwalope has joined critical stakeholders to highlight the importance of education, community involvement and initiatives to protect Lagos environment and coastal economy.

According to a statement on Thursday in Lagos by the firm’s media unit, the stakeholders spoke during an event sponsored by eTranzact and aimed at promoting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), organised the event and was tagged, `2025 Inter Tertiary Institutions Environmental Summi.’

The event also featured a debate competition by students of some tertiary institutions in Lagos with the topic, “Plastic Pollution and the Challenges of Just Transition in a Developing Economy: Lagos as a Case Study.”

The sponsor eTranzact introduced its products designed to significantly improve the ease and security of financial transactions, as well as drive financial inclusion.

The products included PocketMoni: a mobile wallet solution; Credo: an all-in-one payment platform for small businesses, and Billon- a merchant marketplace platform also available to students.

Toluwalope, represented by Adedayo Adejokun, spoke on the company’s commitment to financial inclusion and environmental protection.

The managing director said that the gathering was more than a contest of intellect but a platform where bold thinking meets urgent realities.

He said the theme, “Balancing Environmental Challenges and its Impact on the Lagos Economy,” was apt to address current global realities.

“In Lagos and across the world, environmental pressures are reshaping how economies function, how businesses operate and how communities survive.

“At eTranzact, we believe that true innovation is not only about solving today’s problems, but also about doing so sustainably, inclusively and with foresight.

“That belief informs our business model, our technology and importantly, our Corporate Social Responsibility agenda particularly our focus on education,” Toluwalope said.

The General Manager, LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, expressed excitement about engaging young people on environment matters.

Ajayi said such awareness would help the younger generation to be knowledgeable on issues relating to how to protect the environment.

At the end of the competition, Lagos State University (LASU), emerged the overall winner; Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) came second, while University of Lagos (UNILAG) took the third position.

The essay writing competition focused on “Sustainable Development in Lagos Coastal Region and Balancing Blue Economy Expansion with Environmental Potential.”

Among the best performing students were Chinonye Ibeakanma (UNILAG), who came first, Oguejiofor Nkemakonam Anthony (UNILAG) was second and David Gabriel Victor (LASUSTECH) came third.
