Lawmaker, Ganiyu Okanlawon, Empowers Constituents ....As OKLA Academy Graduates Students In Third Edition Of Free ICT Training




 
The OKLA Computer Academy has graduated participants of the third edition of its Free ICT/Computer Training Programme, with the founder, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, urging beneficiaries to use their newly acquired digital skills to create opportunities and solve real-world problems.
 
Okanlawon, popularly known as OKLA, represents Kosofe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.



 
His office has also been involved in other empowerment initiatives, including educational and small-business support for constituents.


The graduation, certificate and gifts award ceremony brought together guests, community leaders, parents and guardians, facilitators, members of the academy and graduating students.




Speaking at the event, Okanlawon said the programme was established to give young people access to practical digital skills and prepare them for opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.
 
He said that participants in the latest edition received training in areas including Microsoft Office, data analytics, graphic design, web development, database management, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and robotics.



 
Okanlawon expressed satisfaction with the commitment and enthusiasm displayed by the students throughout the programme, saying their achievements demonstrated the potential of young people when given the right opportunities and guidance.
 
He urged the graduating students to regard the certificates as the beginning of a broader journey rather than the end of their learning.



 
“Continue learning, develop your skills, embrace innovation and use technology responsibly to create value and solve real-world problems,” he told the beneficiaries.

The lawmaker also gave out laptops and cash to the best three students and gave cash awards to 20 others.
 
However, the beneficiaries thanked Hon Okanlawon and appreciated him for reaching out to them.



 
The founder also commended the facilitators and academy team for their commitment and professionalism, while appreciating parents and guardians for supporting the participants.
 
The OKLA Computer Academy initiative is part of Okanlawon’s broader youth empowerment efforts. In 2025, the academy conducted its second edition of a free ICT skill-up programme for senior secondary school students in Kosofe Constituency 1, with training covering computer operations, Microsoft Office, internet and email use, cyber safety, basic coding and graphic design.

 
The founder congratulated the graduates and award recipients, expressing the hope that the training would serve as a foundation for further learning, innovation and career development.

CCRP Seeks Fresh Police Review of Ajiran Deaths Case, Urges Evidence-Based Investigation

The Centre for Citizens Right Protection (CCRP) has called on the Inspector-General of Police to order a fresh, independent and comprehensive review of the investigation into the deaths of two persons in Ajiran Community, Lagos State, which led to the ongoing trial of Alhaji Tajudeen Akanbi.
