Ogun Govt Gives Clarification On Paddy-Arikawe Oye, Igbimo Road Project

Image
The Ogun State Government has described as egregious falsehood, the news report that it stopped an ongoing federal road along Paddy-Arikawe Oye Igbimo Road to settle political scores with the facilitator of the project.  In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon Kayode Akinmade, the Ogun State government clarified that the contractor, Minim and Tonye Nigeria Limited, was only asked to follow due process and apply for permission from the government, because the road in question is a state road. According to the statement, having discovered a contractor working on the road, which was earlier scheduled for repairs by Governor Abiodun, the state government asked the contractor to apply for permission stating the scope of work expected to be done, which would enable the state government to take the road off its schedule. It challenged the writers of the fake news to publish anything legally wrong with the letter signed by the minist...

How Governor Dapo Abiodun Reconnected Ifo Constituency 2 To The State

Image
By Comrade Timothy Odedina A simple, impromptu survey on the streets of Akute and Alagbole can often reveal the most profound political truths. Yesterday, as I navigated the now-bustling roads of Ifo Constituency 2 in Ogun State, I posed a question to residents: “Who is Dapo Abiodun?” The answers were swift and uniform: “Our Governor.” This may seem like a basic fact, but the depth of recognition and the tone of appreciation in their voices spoke volumes. It was a stark contrast to the narrative of neglect that had defined this area for nearly two decades. This encounter transported me back to the campaign trails of 2019. The rallying cry of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), was a painful but undeniable truth: for 16 years, spanning two previous administrations, the people of this constituency had watched as successive governments turned a blind eye to their infrastructural decay. The roads were a nightmare, a symbol of governmental abandonment. The question then was not ...

One of the beneficiaries, Uduakobong Akpan expressed satisfaction on the quality of the sessions, tutors and the environment which, according to him was conducive for learning, adding that the quality of  facilities provided was  responsible for the knowledge on phone and laptops he  acquired seamlessly. He said'',This training is so unique and expensive due to the sophistication of the training gadgets, which I have never seen before. As a matter of fact, there is no way I could have gotten the money to pay for such classes if it was not made free by Ogun State government, because am a fresh graduate looking for a white collar job, but now that I ...

Much Ado About Daniel's Asoludero Property

Image
By Seyi Bakare For some time now, Chief Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State who presently represents Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Gbenga Daniel, has loaded the internet with claims that Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State is after him. As evidence, he cites the contravention notices placed on his properties in Sagamu GRA by the Ogun State Government, which recently undertook an audit exercise across the state that affected all landlords in the affected GRAs. The exercise was conducted without incident across the state, but Daniel raised a ruckus, and his voice has been amplified by various analysts who have followed the same pattern across national dailies. The claim, quite simply, is that the dispute between the duo is all about 2027 and nothing else, although the authors have provided no proof. But what if the analysts are wrong? An old Latin proverb says: "Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur ("What is asserted gratuitously may be den...

According to him, a market survey shows that the price of a 50kg bag of rice, which sold for about ₦85,000 in March, now goes for between ₦62,000 and ₦65,000. “A medium-sized tuber of yam, previously about ₦2,000, now sells for ₦1,200, while a paint bucket of cassava flakes (garri) has dropped from ₦3,500 to ₦2,400. Prices of maize and corn have also fallen across the state. “The crash in food prices is not accidental. It’s the result of structured support to farmers through various agricultural intervention programmes, including ACReSAL, the massive distrib...

Who is Afraid of Peace and Stability In Kebbi State?

Image
By Imam Talba  It is always an eyesore and very troubling to watch how once-powerful men descend into the abyss of desperation, clutching at straws of irrelevance while disgracefully weaponizing the very insecurities they once ignored. The latest petition authored by Abubakar Malami, who many Nigerians know as the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, is an interesting case study of what we can term political recklessness, hypocrisy, and the dangerous misuse of national security rhetoric for personal gain. The petition which was dated 10th September 2025 and addressed to the National Security Adviser, Director General of the Department of State Services, Inspector General of Police, and the Comptroller-Generals of Immigration and Civil Defence, Malami’s letter purportedly raises alarm about alleged plans to destabilize Kebbi State through the importation of political thugs, mercenaries from Niger Republic, and the trafficking of arms. He had the effront...

Humanoid Kings: Multiple Miseries Of Discounted Peoples

Image
By Sulaiman Salawudeen   There is this apparent emergency regarding the human condition that warrants being generally worried! But who is? There is fire on the mountain, and no one seems to be running, says the acclaimed American author, essayist, and social critic, James Baldwin. Speaking at a time one/tenth of the evil humankind today loosens upon itself had not manifested, Baldwin was both worried and frustrated at the alarming complacency and widespread denial he beheld in the American society about its profound racial injustices and moral failings. Even today, evidences abound of a yet sick society and infirm humanity. In my country at least, there are extrajudicial killings foisted as much by uniformed brutes, as by ‘articulated’ slaughterers that move freights in-between locations! The husbands are disemboweling/decapitating their wives and vice versa – all for scummy ends! Mutual friends, co-workers/travelers, clergy and laity, adults and teenagers alike, all are caug...
