ASELGON Felicitates Tinubu, Shettima, Nigerians On Eid-El-Fitri ....Preaches Unity, Love

As Nigeria Muslims join their counterparts across the globe in the celebration of the end of this year's Ramadan Fast, the Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has felicitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, his Vice, Sen. Kassim Shettima, GCON and other Muslim faithful across the country for the successful completion of the annual religious obligation.

The message of felicitation was contained in a press release signed by the National President of the association, Hon. Albert Asipa and made available to journalists in Abuja.

The Association congratulated, Nigerian leaders and the entire Muslim community in the country for the grace of seeing the end of the 30- day fast.

ASELGON remarked that the holy month of Ramadan, as instituted by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), is a period of self denial to share in the experience of the masses and the imperative of showing love by sharing with the less privileged out of one's endowment.

The association noted with honour how both the President, his Vice and other notable leaders in the Muslim community lived the above quoted tenet during the Ramadan fast by gifting the less privileged various items to ensure their joyous participation in the religious exercise, an act described as highly commendable.

"Aside the religious undertone, the act of giving is a virtue premised upon love, care and concern and we enjoin all of us, irrespective of our religious inclination to let love guide us in all what we do. The act of loving one another should not be limited to the celebration of any form of festival, but should be our ways of life.

"This is because, in love, there is peace, there is unity, there is concern and oneness and these are all what we need for our country to attain the expected height socially, economically and even politically. If we truly love one another, there won't be all indices of insecurity like kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, robbery and even high scale corruption in our country would be a thing of the past," the statement added.

While enjoining the mass of the Muslim community to continue their pious lifestyle embraced during the Ramadan fast, ASELGON maintained that whatever it was that one could do away with for complete 30 days could be jettisoned for life, saying, "the period of Ramadan fast is usually also noted for abstinence from certain behaviours known not to be acceptable in the sight of Almighty Allah."

"There's no point going back to those behaviours after the Ramadan fast because the fact that they are not acceptable to the Almighty Allah and we could denial ourselves during the fast should be our motivation to remain chaste after the final break of the fast today/tomorrow," ASELGON said.

The Association prayed that the Almighty Allah would grant all the requests made of the Muslims during the Ramadan fast, gift unto them the reward of their obedience and that this year's celebration would not be their last in the land of the living.
