Lagos Lawmaker, Victor Akande Faults Declaration of World Happiness Day, Commends INEC Over 2019 General Elections

The lawmaker representing Ojo Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Akande has said that it was unnecessary to earmark a day as International Happiness Day, saying that there was no need to reserve happiness to just one day and that such could not even be generalised.
Hon. Victor added that happiness is sometimes short lived, when the person concerned is faced with a challenge or unpalatable situation after he had been happy over an issue.
"Is there any day set aside for sadness? Then as we celebrate happiness there should be another day set aside for celebrating sadness.
"I don't see any reason we should separate a day for happiness, your mood could change anytime, somebody could just die while, you are celebrating, can we now go on celebrating under such circumstances?
"There is no way everybody would be happy at the same time al over the be world.
"This at any given time negates the rationale behind declaring a day international Day for Happiness," he said.
Assessing the 2019 general elections, Victor scored the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) 70 percent.
"I will score INEC 70% on the 2019 General Elections, they have tried, even the American observers commended them for the elections.
"If we have issues in six out of 36 states, then we have scored even 80% and I think that is commendable," he stated.
The lawmaker added that the decision of INEC to deny the Imo State Governor, Mr.Rochas Okorocha his certificate of returns as elected Senator of the Federal Republic was right based on the report that the returning officer for the election declared him winner under duress.
