Lagos PDP Greets Nigerian Children On Children's Day Says; "There Is Hope For The Future"



As the whole world marks the annual Children's Day on May 27, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has felicitated with all the Nigerian children.

The party saluted "the children for enduring the current harsh economic crisis in the country."

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Hakeem Amode and dated May 26, 2023, the Lagos PDP said that these are not the best of times for Nigerians and that whatever affects the parents will also affect the children.

"Our children are the future of our society and nothing is too much to invest on them, so it is not an overstatement to say that the Nigerian children should be commended for their resilience and for bearing the brunt of the issues confronting us as a nation.

"But, there is hope for the future and that is what the Lagos State chapter of the PDP stands for. 

"Our party, both at the state and national levels, believes in the welfare of the children. We will continue to fight their cause and that is why we want to go into government to make things better, especially for the children," the statement read.

The party added that the Nigerian children are not asking for too much; adding that they need education, feeding, clothing, accommodation and welfare.

He said; "our government will place priority on these and we will never let our children down because we know that the future belongs to them.

"A PDP-led government in Lagos State, and even at the federal level, will protect the Children's rights as enshrined in our constitution, which include the right to health, education, family life, play and recreation, an adequate standard of living and to be protected from abuse and harm. 

"Leading countries of the world emphasise the welfare of the children as they know that whatever they do for them would be waiting for their countries in the future.

"We wish our children happy celebration, while promising them that a PDP-led government would be there for them once we have opportunity to serve."

CSOs Demand Urgent Police Investigation Into Alleged Murder of Ishola Salami

Civil Society groups, including the Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR), Frontline Socio-economic Research Centre (FSERC), Campaign Against Impunity (CIA), Centre for the Physically Challenged and Peoples Rights (CPCPR), Community Women Initiative (CWI) and Workbond Initiative Network (WIN) have called for investigations into the death of Mr Ishola Salami by the Nigeria Police.
