Ogun Governor Pledges Policies to Ease Hardships, Promote Inclusiveness

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to initiating and implementing policies that alleviate economic challenges and improve the quality of life for residents.
Speaking during a Christmas service at St. James' Anglican Church, Iperu-Remo, in Ikenne Local Government Area on Wednesday, Governor Abiodun acknowledged the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians but assured that his government is working tirelessly to help people navigate these tough times.

“Our administration remains steadfast in fostering inclusiveness and responsiveness. We are determined to introduce various programmes aimed at easing economic hardships and other difficulties. This includes the introduction of free health insurance and free health programmes for the elderly, women, and children,” Abiodun stated.

The governor also highlighted the recent increase in the minimum wage as part of efforts to cushion the impact of current economic realities. While urging perseverance, he assured citizens that the benefits of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reforms would soon become evident.

“We are resolute in ensuring your voices are heard. Through town hall meetings and consultations with local leaders, we make decisions that reflect the needs of our people. This is what inclusiveness means,” he added.

Governor Abiodun emphasized the significance of the Christmas season, describing it as a period of love, fellowship, and gratitude that transcends all differences. He called on residents to embrace the values of compassion, kindness, and faith.

“Let us prioritize the gift of life over material possessions this festive season. As we step into the new year, may the power of kindness, the strength of community, and the hope for a better tomorrow guide us all,” he urged.

Commendations from the Pulpit

In his sermon titled "Joy to the World," the Vicar of St. James' Anglican Church, Venerable Shadrach Ajileye, described the birth of Jesus as a divine gift that brings salvation, joy, and hope to humanity. He encouraged Christians to live in peace with others and extend fellowship during the festive season.

The Vicar also praised Governor Abiodun for his developmental strides, particularly the construction of the Sagamu-Iperu-Saapade road. He urged the governor to remain focused and lead with the fear of God, saying, “Your efforts are commendable. Stay the course and avoid distractions so you can conclude your tenure gloriously.”

During the service, Governor Abiodun read the first Bible lesson from Isaiah 9:6-7, emphasizing the promise of peace and good governance.
