Atiku Will Resuscitate Our Economy, Give Lagos Youths Better Development Opportunities- Olalemi





Mr. Hakeem Olalemi, Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (Lagos Central) has urged Nigerians to vote for the party's Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who he said will resuscitate the nation's economy and give youths better development.

Olalemi said in a statement, which was issued to the media on Wednesday and which he personally signed, that "the season is upon us to choose our leader through our electoral franchise and we need to make a better choice in Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (Waziri Adamawa) to resuscitate Nigeria economy and give our youths a better development opportunities. 

"We have witnessed the downtrodden in all spheres of our economy since 2015, when the APC came to office and this has affected our youths who are majorly currently unemployed or under employed. our factories especially in the areas which we were proud to be productive have now been converted to warehouse and churches due to the policies incosistence and lack of direction of the APC led government."


Olalemi stated that the factories in Surulere and Apapa in Lagos Central Senatorial District had been closed down leading to massive unemployment in the area "thereby causing youths to become cultist and thugs instead of been productive. 

"This trend can only be reversed by voting the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the President and other PDP candidates in Saturday election."

He added that Alhaji Atiku had promised to invest in women and youths employment and that the votes of the people "can make this laudable idea of the PDP comes to fruition to give live and better living to our teeming youths who are currently disoriented due to the lack of direction by the present ruling government."

"The increase case of violence and youths unrest in the Lagos Central which is predominantly in Lagos Island, Apapa, Eti-Osa Lagos Mainland and Surulere are due to the lack of gainful employment of the youths which the policies to Rescue, recovery and resetting of the PDP candidates aimed to resolve.

"In view of the above, I am calling on all well meaning Lagosians, especially the people of the Lagos Central, to shake off the hold of the rulling party in the state and reject the repressive government of the ruling APC by voting them out of office in the coming elections. 

"We could all remember the statement by the former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN at the eve of 2015 elections, where he urged the electorate to vote the government of APC out of government when they refuse to perform. 

"I am hereby asking the good people of the state and well meaning citizens of the state including  educated elite of the state to heed his advice and reject APC while choosing  to  vote PDP Candidates in the coming elections.

"In the interest of our collective future and in aspiration for a better country which we all can be proud of, I am using this medium to once again urge you to give your vote to PDP and we would ensure that every promises made to the electorate are fulfill in the Lagos Central Senatorial District and in Lagos as a whole to give our people a Breath of Fresh Air which our party represent in these elections," he said.

CSOs Demand Urgent Police Investigation Into Alleged Murder of Ishola Salami

Civil Society groups, including the Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR), Frontline Socio-economic Research Centre (FSERC), Campaign Against Impunity (CIA), Centre for the Physically Challenged and Peoples Rights (CPCPR), Community Women Initiative (CWI) and Workbond Initiative Network (WIN) have called for investigations into the death of Mr Ishola Salami by the Nigeria Police.
