Man Appeals To Police IG Over Alleged Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, Malicious Damage, Threat to Life

A Lagos resident, Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo, has cried out for his life following alleged repeated threats, attempted murder, conspiracy, malicious damage, and intimidation over four plots of land at Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, valued at over ₦40 million.

The land, he said, belongs to his elder sister, who resides abroad but gave him a Letter of Attorney.

He said that for over 10 years, he has managed the property lawfully with valid survey documents and receipts.

The President of the Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights, Comrade Alex Omotehinse, who addressed the media on Thursday in his office in Ijaiye area of Lagos State, alongside Mr Oluakamo, alleged that a serving police officer threatened to kill Mr. Oluakamo over the property.

Omotehinse stated that on April 16, 2025, armed men stormed the site, firing shots, damaging property, and attempting to forcefully take possession, adding that on Sept, 23rd 2025,

"He was attacked, beaten, manhandled and warned never to return to the said landed property.

"This is not just a land dispute, it is an attack on life, human rights, and the rule of law.

"The property in question has valid documents and has been managed peacefully for over ten years,  the only new factor here is violence and conspiracy.

"The Nigeria Police Force is funded by taxpayers to defend lives and property not to serve private interests. If such impunity is left unchecked, it will embolden others, erode trust in law enforcement, and endanger every Nigerian," he said.

He then demanded the immediate suspension and investigation of the officer "pending an impartial probe."

"There should be independent investigation led by the Police Service Commission and Lagos State Command with civilian oversight.

"Let there be arrest and prosecution of all perpetrators, both the officer (s) and civilians, once culpability is established.

"There must be protection for Mr. Oluakamo and the rightful property owner from further attacks," he said.

Omotehinse stressed that the matter must not be swept under the carpet.

He said that if threats, shootings, beating, harassment and intimidation go unchecked, Lagos could face wider communal violence and possible killings.

"We therefore call on the Inspector General of Police, the AIG Zone 2, the Commissioner of Police Lagos, and the Police Service Commission to act immediately.

"The Centre for Human and Socio-Economy Rights (CHSR) stands firmly with the victim and every Nigerian facing unlawful intimidation.

"Justice delayed is justice denied. Accountability ignored is impunity rewarded. Nigeria cannot afford either," he said.
