First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu Hosts D’Tigress ..Says They Have Placed Nigeria On The Global Map Of Excellence




The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON has hosted the D’Tigress of Nigeria to a reception at the State House, Abuja.

The First Lady said that their performance on the basketball court is a testament to hard work, discipline, and commitment to excellence and that this will inspire countless individuals, especially women, to pursue their dreams.

These were contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser, Media to the First Lady, Mrs Bisola Kukoyi.







“Your victory transcends sports, symbolizing the potentials that can be realized when a diverse group of individuals come together with a common goal.

“I am immensely proud of your achievements and the positive image you have projected for our country. Your success reinforces the fact that Nigerian women are capable of reaching the highest level in any endeavour they choose to undertake," she said.

In his remarks at the reception, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar thanked the First Lady for hosting the team with an assurance that they would be going to the drawing board to get ready for the 2024 Olympic Games with victory on their mind.

The captain of the team then presented the coveted FIBA Women’s Afrobasket trophy to the First Lady, wife of the Vice President, and wife of the Senate President.

The officials of the Basketball Federation also presented a medal and jersey to the First lady.

This the Fourth consecutive victory of the D’Tigress of Nigeria at the Afrobasket tournament.

CSOs Demand Urgent Police Investigation Into Alleged Murder of Ishola Salami

Civil Society groups, including the Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR), Frontline Socio-economic Research Centre (FSERC), Campaign Against Impunity (CIA), Centre for the Physically Challenged and Peoples Rights (CPCPR), Community Women Initiative (CWI) and Workbond Initiative Network (WIN) have called for investigations into the death of Mr Ishola Salami by the Nigeria Police. United States of America (USA)-based groups; Ogoni-American Organisation, the National Union of Ogoni Students International (NUOS INTL USA), the Center for Democracy Human Rights and Anti-Corruption International (CDHRAC INT'L USA), and the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has written a letter to Shell Oil, United Kingdom on the purported onshore oil sale of Shell activities in Ogoni, Niger Delta, Nigeria.
