Lagos PDP Extends Heartfelt Congratulations to Funke Akindele on Her 46th Birthday



The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended its "warmest congratulations to Ms. Olufunke Akindele, our esteemed Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2023 General Elections, as she marks her 46th birthday today."

The party said in a press release signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Akeem Amode dated August 24, 2023, that "Ms. Akindele has undeniably emerged as an exemplary figure, capturing the hearts of Nigerian youth through her remarkable contributions as a leading Nollywood Actress, achieving remarkable success within the industry."

The party expressed its deep appreciation for what it called Ms. Akindele's dignified conduct throughout the entirety of the party's campaign in Lagos State leading up to the March 2023 Governorship election, "alongside the esteemed Governorship Candidate of our party in the state, Dr. Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor."

Amode added that the occasion provides the party with an ideal opportunity to extend its best wishes for continued triumphs and accomplishments as Ms. Akindele continues her journey through life.

"Today, as we celebrate your presence on this momentous day, it is a reminder of the positive impact you have made and continue to make.

"Without a doubt, your unwavering dedication and selflessness in your service to the people are truly commendable.

CSOs Demand Urgent Police Investigation Into Alleged Murder of Ishola Salami

Civil Society groups, including the Centre for Human and Socio-economic Rights (CHSR), Frontline Socio-economic Research Centre (FSERC), Campaign Against Impunity (CIA), Centre for the Physically Challenged and Peoples Rights (CPCPR), Community Women Initiative (CWI) and Workbond Initiative Network (WIN) have called for investigations into the death of Mr Ishola Salami by the Nigeria Police. United States of America (USA)-based groups; Ogoni-American Organisation, the National Union of Ogoni Students International (NUOS INTL USA), the Center for Democracy Human Rights and Anti-Corruption International (CDHRAC INT'L USA), and the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has written a letter to Shell Oil, United Kingdom on the purported onshore oil sale of Shell activities in Ogoni, Niger Delta, Nigeria.
